Baptism

We always sing the same Baptism song when someone gets baptized. I wanted the kids to have more options, so I made this flipchart. Baptism

Our Time to Shine

For March we picked the song Our Time to Shine. It is similar to Heroes of the Scriptures, but it personalizes the stories more for the kids. Applies the stories to their lives more, you know? Here is the link: Our Time to Shine All pictures are from LDS.org, including Abish (which was very hard to find).

If I Listen With My Heart

Flipchart I made for If I Listen With My Heart: If I Listen With My Heart I don't like to have all the words on my flipcharts. I just like to put key words and phrases with the pictures.

Follow the Prophet

The Friend magazine printed a few additional verses. We used the Joseph Smith verse and the Thomas S. Monson verse in our program. The kids struggled with the words, so at the last minute I made flipcharts. Follow the Prophet addt'l verses

Extra song for July: Shine On

The Wise Man and The Foolish Man just proved too easy for these kids.  I should have known.  It couldn't have been a worse month for me, either.  I had zero desire to prepare a new song.  I've been struggling a bit with a loss for someone close to me.  Just trying to be on top of that for her really wears a girl out.  But alas...

So I have added a few extra songs to the mix.

Shine On p. 144

I Believe in Being Honest p. 149

I created this flipchart to go with the song Shine On.  It doesn't have all the words, but most.
This is a song that I had never actually heard before, but I really believe the message it teaches is incredible.  And what better song to teach the kids to think of when they are faced with temptations in the world, "Shine on, shine on, shine on bright and clear;  Shine on, shine on now the day is here."

I am still working on a flipchart for the song I believe in being honest.   Check back in a few days, and I should have one.

**Sidenote**
I really should have made a chart for Nephi's Courage, as a I had some really good ideas.  However, I ended up just using one from Jolly'Jenn's site.  It served its purpose, and the kids learned the song really well, but I still might revisit the idea of making my own, just so I'll have it.

See you in a few days!

February

I was going to alternate making the monthly schedule with my senior chorister. She was supposed to make February's schedule and email it to me.

That didn't happen, so I made one today for the rest of the month.

The Lord Gave Me a Temple

I decided to share this song with the kids in order to help them to learn more about choices. This is the flipchart I came up with.

The Lord Gave Me a Temple

I really like to only use some of the words and rely on pictures heavily to communicate the message.  And the reason most of my flipcharts are black and white is not that I am lazy, it is that I am cheap. ;)  I print them in black and white to save money and then spend hours coloring them with Sharpie colored markers.  So, not lazy.  Just cheap.

Hope you enjoy regardless.

I Love to See the Temple

I can never find just what I want from flipcharts online. I end up taking something from one site and something else from another. Then I google and google and google for hours on end looking for "the" picture I need to complete the thing.

I just worked on "I love to See the Temple" because I want my new Sunbeams to know it AND I want to teach these kiddos the second verse.
So here is a link to the flip chart I came up with:

Happy Thursday!

Choose the Right shields

I opted not to make a poster and instead have the song on these shields. I have all 3 verses. They look like this.
Here is the link for the pdf:

Choose the Right

Let me know if you have any problems.

Choose the Right

I am doing a poster for "Choose the Right" but I made all my images into a flip chart in case any of you want it. Or you can cut them out and do a poster, too.

I am only junior primary, so I don't put many words on my flipcharts. Plus I think it helps the kids to learn rather than read when you have pictures.

Here is the link to that flipchart. Sorry the last image isn't colored, but you can take care of that if you want to on your own.

Choose the Right

I'd love to hear if you use these how they work for you.

"I Want to Be Reverent"

***Update***
I created a flip chart for this one as well. Here is the link for that:

I Want to Be Reverent

Next week we are singing this reverence song. I am fairly certain my kids don't know it, so I am cutting out these pictures to hold up.

***UPDATE***
If you want these already arranged on a flipchart then here is the link for that. I know it is a bit late in the month and you have probably already started teaching this song, but just in case. Here it is:

As promised, here are the colored pictures, out of order, if you want to download them. ;)

"As A Child of God"

So after I got this calling I decided to plan ahead and get my helps done early for January. I looked at all of the singing time blogs I know of and I found NOTHING! You know what that means: It's time to do your own work. It's just like school all over again. So after hours of scouring the internet for just the right images from the friend and talking myself into making some of them work I found these. The thing about this song is there are a lot of words that aren't easily illustrated: safe, holy ghost, peace. Hopefully what I came up with will work.

"As A Child of God"

I came to

Earth

With power to choose

Good Choices bless me

and my family, too.

As a child of God

I receive special light

The Holy Ghost helps me

To know what is right

VERSE 2:

I feel so safe

and happy because

Such feelings of peace

come from family

love

VERSE 3:

In my own home

I'll happily serve

I'll strengthen

my family

by my good works

I've already colored them. Now all that is left to do is cut them out and laminate them.
